Cakes
All cakes are as the sizes specified at time of ordering. Please ensure that you have sufficient cake for your requirements as I am unable to change the size once the order is finalised. I can provide you with a portion guide.
Stands
Stands are available for hire with my cakes. A deposit cheque will be required and a charge will apply. Stands that are not returned by the specified date mean that I will cash your deposit cheque.
Cake storage and shelf life
All cakes should be stored in a cool dark place on a flat sturdy surface in the box provided. Never put cakes in the fridge unless instructed to do so, this instruction will only be given in writing.
Sponge cakes will keep for 5 days. Fruitcake lasts perfectly well for months but not years.
Payment
Wedding cakes
I accept £75 date reservation deposit on wedding cakes ordered more than 6 months before the wedding.
If you are ordering your cake within 6 months of your wedding or when are choosing your design, 50% is due. The balance is due one month before your wedding. Your cake decoration will not be started until the final payment is received.
Celebration cakes
A 20% deposit must be paid to secure booking of a celebration cake with the balance being paid on collection or 1 week prior to delivery.
Orders
Please check your order thoroughly before completion; it is not always possible to change things once your cake has been started. Any changes that you require made may incur an extra cost.
My cakes are bespoke and I can only create the finished article from what I interpret from the wording of the order.
It is not possible to make exact representations when modelling food, just a graphical representation. I will produce a simple design sketch for your cake at your consultation and follow it as closely as possible. If an inscription colour or any other choice is left unselected on you order then I reserve the right to use my discretion.
Cancellation
Your deposit will be forfeit if cancelling more than 2 weeks after placing your order. Changes to the design may result in a new quote.
Once work has started on a cake then any cancellation will result in a part payment for work already carried out. Any cake cancelled within a week of collection/delivery will be charged at full price.
Complaints
Corrections and repairs to cakes, including inscription mis-spellings (not including a change of inscription or change of mind/design), can be on the same day in most cases. You are required to give me this opportunity and must let me know of the problem within one hour of receiving your cake. I am not responsible for mistakes made by the customer, incorrect/mis-spelt names or incorrect choice of cake.
I take all complaints very seriously. Some complaints may require further investigation and an immediate refund may not always be possible. Cakes, or part of cakes, must be returned within 3 days to ensure that I am able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint. The cake must have been stored at the correct temperature and in the box I supplied, out of the sun and away from damp conditions or heat. The maximum refund I offer is the value of the cake and delivery. Further compensation is not available. I do not refund for customers who have simply changed their mind.
Loss or Damage
I accept no responsibility for loss or damage to the cake once the cake has been accepted, either when collected or at the venue, or for loss, damage or non-delivery under unavoidable and exceptional circumstances.
